Type the Puente Nuevo into your satnav and it will happily send you across it. Since August 2025, that is a mistake: cameras now watch the road over the bridge, and only cars registered in Ronda may use it. Leave the car on the edge of the centre and walk in. The town is small, and nothing on this page is more than 25 minutes on foot from the bridge.
The restricted zone around the Puente Nuevo
Since 1 August 2025, only vehicles registered for tax in Ronda can drive along the axis formed by Calle Jerez, the Puente Nuevo and Calle Armiñán, which crosses from the Mercadillo into the old town. Cameras at the entrances record every plate, under the control of the Policía Local, and the fine for an unauthorised car is €70.
If your hotel is inside the zone, ask it to register your number plate before you arrive: hotels can add their guests to the list of authorised vehicles. For everyone else, the simplest rule is to set the satnav to a car park, never to the bridge.
Paid car parks
Martínez Astein
The largest car park in town, underground, with 400 spaces and open 24 hours. It sits under Avenida Martínez Astein, near the train station, with entrances on Avenida de Málaga and Calle Córdoba. Check your roof box: the barrier at the entrance is set at 2.20 metres.
At the machine, it costs €1.95 an hour or €23.09 for 24 hours. Book online beforehand and the day rate drops to about €14, which makes it the best deal in Ronda for a full day. The walk to the Puente Nuevo takes 10 to 15 minutes, through the shopping streets.
El Castillo
The only public car park inside La Ciudad, the old town, on Plaza Duquesa de Parcent near the Puerta de Almocábar. It is run by the town council, has 194 spaces and is open 24 hours.
The first 59 minutes are free, which is enough for a quick look at Santa María la Mayor. After that it is charged by the minute, with a day rate of €18.15. The streets leading to it are narrow, but it is the obvious choice if your hotel is in the old town.
La Concepción
A municipal car park on the site of the old barracks, between Calle Comandante Salvador Carrasco and Calle Lauría, with 106 spaces. The first 10 minutes are free; after that it costs €0.015 a minute plus VAT, a little over €1 an hour. It is charged from 8:00 to 22:00 and free at night.
Plaza del Socorro: closed
The central car park under Plaza del Socorro was long the first choice of visitors. The town council closed it as a precaution in late August 2026, after a fire brigade report on its safety, and no reopening date has been announced. Its booking pages are still online, so do not pay for a space there.
- Martínez Astein: 400 spaces, 24 hours, €1.95 an hour, about €14 a day booked online.
- El Castillo: 194 spaces, 24 hours, first 59 minutes free, €18.15 a day.
- La Concepción: 106 spaces, first 10 minutes free, then charged by the minute from 8:00 to 22:00.
Free parking
Street parking is free in most of Ronda, but it is a race against the coaches. Day-trip coaches arrive between 10:30 and 11:30, and after that, finding a free space near the centre turns into a long loop around town. Arrive before 10:00 and you have the choice.
The Explanada de El Fuerte, the fairground on the east side of town, behind the municipal sports centre, is the largest free area: a big gravel esplanade that is rarely full, except during the Pedro Romero fair in September or the La Legión 101 km race. There is no barrier and no CCTV, and the Puente Nuevo is about 12 minutes away on foot.
Closer in, Plaza Pruna is a tarmac esplanade about 10 minutes from the bridge, full by mid-morning in summer. To the south, the streets of the Barrio de San Francisco, at the foot of the old walls, are 15 minutes away, but the way back is uphill. In the Barrio de San Cristóbal, Avenida Ricardo Navarrete has about 50 spaces, also 15 minutes away. As a last resort, the streets around the train station and Avenida de Andalucía almost always have room, 15 to 25 minutes from the bridge.
¡Ojo! with the road markings: white lines usually mean free parking unless a sign says otherwise, blue lines mean paid and time-limited, and yellow zigzags mean no parking at all.
Motorhomes
The Área de Autocaravanas Ronda, at kilometre 1.5 of the road from Ronda to Algeciras, is about 1 km from the historic centre. It has 20 levelled pitches, a night guard and CCTV, and vehicles can come and go at any time except between 22:00 and 8:00.
For a free stop, Plaza Pruna has room for a handful of motorhomes and fills up fast. The gravel car park on the Camino de los Molinos, near the old town walls, is closed to vehicles longer than 5 metres.

Frequently asked questions
Can you park for free in Ronda?
Yes. Street parking is free in most of town, and the large Explanada de El Fuerte, about 12 minutes on foot from the Puente Nuevo, rarely fills up. Plaza Pruna, the Barrio de San Francisco and the streets around the train station are other free options. Arrive before 10:00, when the day-trip coaches start arriving.
Can you drive across the Puente Nuevo?
Not with a car registered outside Ronda. Since August 2025, the axis formed by Calle Jerez, the Puente Nuevo and Calle Armiñán is reserved for vehicles registered in the town, and cameras fine other cars €70. If your hotel is inside the zone, ask it to register your number plate before you arrive.
Which car park is closest to the Puente Nuevo?
With the Plaza del Socorro car park closed since late August 2026, the closest are El Castillo, in the old town, about 5 minutes on foot, and Martínez Astein, on the Mercadillo side, 10 to 15 minutes away.
Where can you park a motorhome in Ronda?
At the Área de Autocaravanas Ronda, at kilometre 1.5 of the road to Algeciras, about 1 km from the historic centre, with 20 pitches, a night guard and CCTV. Plaza Pruna has room for a few motorhomes for free, but it fills up quickly. Avoid the Camino de los Molinos car park, closed to vehicles over 5 metres.
